Camcopter Flies at LIMA Exhibition in Malaysia
Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 will be part of the daily flying displays at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition in Malaysia, marking the increased use of UAS at air shows and the interest in the Camcopter in the region.
The show runs 26-30 March and will mark the Camcopter’s second appearance.
In June, the Camcopter completed a series of trials for Malaysian armed forces and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.
The S-100, operated by local partner Alaf Strategi, flew from a makeshift beach helipad for various simulated day and night missions, including tracking fast-moving vessels.
“The series of regional trials conducted by Alaf Strategi personnel were successful and generated a lot of interest, not only in Malaysia,” Zainal Ashraf Awal, CEO of Alaf Strategi, said in a Schiebel press release. “Our goal is to establish the S-100 as the leading UAS in Malaysia and beyond.”
The Camcopter has made several appearances at air shows in recent years, including at the Paris Air Show and most recently at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi.
